U.S. Marshals take over global hunt for fugitive son tied to Litchfield Park deaths

An international manhunt is underway for an Arizona fugitive suspected in a homicide investigation involving his parents, a missing Litchfield Park couple, after human remains were found at the family’s home, authorities announced Tuesday.

The investigation began last week when Avondale police conducted a welfare check at the residence near Indian School Road and Wigwam Boulevard.

The son, 27-year-old Matthew Flores Semyonov, was not at the home, and investigators found blood, according to police.

“Flores Semyonov is alleged to have murdered his parents, concealed their remains in the backyard of their Litchfield Park residence, and fled the United States,” according to the U.S. Marshals Service, which has taken over the manhunt.

The missing persons investigation escalated into a homicide case after human remains were found buried in the backyard.

The remains have not been identified, and authorities do not know how long they had been buried.

Autopsies are pending. At the family’s request, police have not released the names of the missing husband and wife.

Who is the suspect in the Litchfield Park homicide investigation?

The Avondale Police Department identified Flores Semyonov as a suspect. Flores lived with his parents before they disappeared and is believed to have left the country before authorities discovered the human remains, police said.

Avondale police asked federal authorities to help find Flores Semyonov last Friday. The U.S. Marshals Service has secured a federal arrest warrant charging Flores Semyonov with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

The U.S. Marshals Service is leading the fugitive search, while Avondale police remain the lead agency in the criminal investigation. The FBI is also assisting, and investigators have processed three vehicles believed to be connected to the case.

Authorities have not disclosed where Flores Semyonov may have gone. The U.S. Marshals Service said he should be considered dangerous and warned members of the public not to approach or attempt to apprehend him.
