Pedestrian dead after getting hit by vehicle in Phoenix

Impairment and speed did not appear to be factors in the Phoenix collision.

A man died after being struck by a vehicle in Phoenix on Friday night, authorities said.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a collision near 43rd Avenue and Osborn Road around 9:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, police found an unresponsive 47-year-old man and the driver of a black Dodge Ram truck at the scene. The former was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

The driver remained on scene and showed no signs of impairment, police said.

Upon investigation, authorities determined the driver of the truck was heading north on 43rd Avenue when they hit the man who was crossing the road mid-block and not in a crosswalk.

Speed did not appear to be a factor in the collision.
