Man arrested on suspicion of killing his cousin in Buckeye

A man was arrested on suspicion of killing his cousin in Buckeye over the weekend, authorities said.

Roger Mccrae, 57, allegedly shot 56-year-old Ewell Mccrae on Sunday morning, according to the Buckeye Police Department.

Officers responded to a shooting call in a neighborhood in the area of Miller Road and Maricopa County Road 85 around 10:45 a.m.

They found Ewell Mccrae lying in a yard bleeding near Third Street and Centre Avenue in the West Valley suburb’s downtown area. Fire department responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

Officers learned that the suspect was the victim’s cousin. Roger Mccrae visited a church down the street after the shooting and then left, police said. But he returned to the shooting scene later and was arrested.

The suspect was booked into jail on counts of second-degree murder, discharging a firearm within city limits, tampering with evidence and misconduct involving weapons. His bond was set at $1 million.
