Power Play option boosts Arizona Powerball player’s prize to $150,000

An Arizona Powerball player won $150,000 in Monday night’s drawing.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Circle K on the corner of First Avenue and Limberlost Drive in Tucson.

It matched four of the five numbers drawn — 2, 42, 47, 57 and 58 — plus the red Powerball of 14. That combination is good for $50,000, but the player tripled the payout by purchasing the Power Play option.

How to play Powerball in Arizona

Powerball is a multistate game of chance with drawings every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday night. Tickets cost $2 each and can be purchased at over 3,000 retailers around Arizona.

The Power Play add-on costs an extra $1 per entry. The multiplier amount is randomly selected before each drawing and increases payouts other than the jackpot by two, three, four, five or 10 times.

The jackpot went unclaimed Monday and will rise to an estimated $194 million for Wednesday’s drawing.

The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in over 292 million.

Arizona Lottery launches ‘New Ticket Tuesdays’ promotion

Meanwhile, the Arizona Lottery launched a new monthly promotion Tuesday called “New Ticket Tuesdays.”

Anybody who visits an Arizona Lottery office in Phoenix, Tucson or Kingman from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. can participate in the promotion, which includes ticket launches, giveaways, promotional offers and prize opportunities.

“New Ticket Tuesdays” will take place the first Tuesday of every month.
