Woman dead after motorcycle collision in Phoenix, driver ran red turn arrow

A 25-year-old woman is dead following a motorcycle collision in Phoenix on Sunday night, authorities said.

Phoenix police officers responded to the area of 27th Avenue and Yorkshire Drive, around 9 p.m. regarding a crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle.

Upon arrival, officers located the motorcyclist, identified as Kendra Lenae Harrison, suffering from critical injuries. Phoenix fire crews transported Harrison to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

According to preliminary information from the Phoenix Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Unit, Harrison was traveling southbound on 27th Avenue when the driver of the vehicle turned left directly in front of her.

Investigators say the driver of the vehicle was initially stopped at a red light while facing north on 27th Avenue. When the light turned green, the driver mistakenly believed they had a green left-turn arrow and proceeded into the intersection. However, the left-turn arrow was still red, police said.

The driver was evaluated by officers at the scene for signs of impairment, but no signs were observed.

Authorities said final charging decisions will be determined once detectives complete a full reconstruction of the collision.

The investigation remains ongoing.
