Four men have been arrested in connection with a Scottsdale drive-by shooting in April, authorities announced Monday.
The incident took place on April 12 at a short-term rental property near 81st Street and Pine Drive, according to the Scottsdale Police Department.
These four men are facing charges, including discharging a firearm in city limits, conspiracy and discharging a firearm at a residence:
- Gabriel Chiruza Lunyerere, 21
- Kywan Jones, 24
- Jamir Smith, 22
- Michel “Ray” Kasereka, 20
Even though the home was hit multiple times, no one inside was injured, police said.
Joe LeDuc, chief of the Scottsdale Police Department, said the shooting is believed to be retaliation connected to an armed robbery that took place in Phoenix earlier that evening.
“Our detectives, analysts, tactical teams, and support personnel did outstanding work in identifying and arresting those responsible for this dangerous shooting,” LeDuc said in the announcement.
Investigators used surveillance footage, forensic evidence, social media search warrants and coordination with partner agencies to identify the men as suspects. While serving multiple search warrants, they recovered several firearms tied to the case.
