Peoria City Council returns to chambers after 9-month renovation project

PHOENIX – After a nine-month renovation project, the Peoria City Council chambers is reopening for Tuesday night’s meeting.

The West Valley suburb’s council meeting space at 8401 W. Monroe St., near Peoria and Grand avenues, was upgraded to improve accessibility.

Tuesday’s regular meeting convenes at 6 p.m., after the mayor and City Council attend a study session on water resources.

Peoria City Council meetings were held at the Public Safety Administration Building during the renovation process, which started in July 2025.

What’s new at Peoria City Council chambers?

With the renovations complete, residents now have more ways to sign up to speak at meetings.

One option is to visit www.peoriaaz.gov/council from 4 to 6 p.m. on the day of a meeting and click on the microphone icon to access a speaker request form.

In addition, the chamber lobby now has two electronic kiosks for submitting requests to speak. Guests also have the option of using a mobile device to scan a QR code from the kiosks to access the form.

People who want to have their say can sign up to speak for or against a specific agenda item or for a turn during the general public comment period.

Requests must be submitted by 6 p.m. on the day of the meeting. The city produced a video explaining how the process works.

For now, the online and kiosk submission system is only available for City Council meetings. The features will be extended to Planning and Zoning and other commissions at a time to be determined.

All Peoria City Council meetings are broadcast on Cox Channel 11 and streamed live on the city’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
