NCAA Women’s Final Four brings variety of events to downtown Phoenix

PHOENIX — Calling all basketball fans! The NCAA Women’s Final Four is being held in Arizona for the first time this weekend, and it’s bringing a variety of events to downtown Phoenix.

The national tournament semifinal games are set for 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Friday at Mortgage Matchup Center. Meanwhile, the national championship game tips off at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.

In addition to the games, there are a number of free activities that residents can attend in the area Thursday through Sunday.

What events are taking place around Women’s Final Four in Phoenix?

On Thursday, April 2:

• Noon to 8 p.m.: Tourney Town, a free festival with interactive games, photo ops and giveaways at the Phoenix Convention Center.
• Noon to 8 p.m.: Four It All Fest, a block party style event outside the Phoenix Convention Center at Canyon on Third Street.
• 1:30 p.m.: Beyond the Baseline session on women and high performance at Phoenix Convention Center.
• 3 p.m.: Beyond the Baseline session honoring indigenous excellence through basketball at Phoenix Convention Center.

On Friday, April 3:

• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Tourney Town, a free festival with interactive games, photo ops and giveaways at the Phoenix Convention Center.
• 9 a.m. to end of second semifinal game: Four It All Fest, a block party style event at Canyon on Third Street.
• 11 a.m.: Beyond the Baseline session on leadership in women’s sports at Phoenix Convention Center.
• 1 p.m.: Beyond the Baseline, Q&A and meet-and-greet with Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame inductees at Phoenix Convention Center.
• 1 p.m.: Box office opens at Mortgage Matchup Center.
• 4 p.m.: Semifinal Game 1, South Carolina vs. UConn, Mortgage Matchup Center.
• 6:30 p.m.: Semifinal Game 2, UCLA vs. Texas, Mortgage Matchup Center.

On Saturday, April 4:

• 8 a.m.: Bounce, those ages 18 and under can dribble from Heritage Square to the Phoenix Convention Center in this free parade.
• 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Tourney Town, a free festival with interactive games, photo ops and giveaways at the Phoenix Convention Center.
• 9 a.m. to end of second semifinal game: Four It All Fest, a block party style event at Canyon on Third Street.
• 11 a.m.: Beyond the Baseline, a conversation with former Phoenix mercury player Brittney Griner at Phoenix Convention Center.
• Noon: Super Saturday Practice, fans can claim free tickets to watch both final teams’ open practice at Mortgage Matchup Center.
• 1 p.m.: Beyond the Baseline session, live taping of the “Good Game with Sarah Spain” podcast at Phoenix Convention Center.
• 3 p.m. Beyond the Baseline session on expanding opportunity in adaptive sport at Phoenix Convention Center.
• 6 p.m.: Super Saturday Concert, a free show with Kehlani headlining at Hance Park

On Sunday, April 5:

• 9 a.m. to noon: Tourney Town, a free festival with interactive games, photo ops and giveaways at the Phoenix Convention Center.
• 9 a.m. to end of championship game: Four It All Fest, a block party style event at Canyon on Third Street.
• 9:30 a.m.: Box office opens at Mortgage Matchup Center.
• 11 a.m.: Gates open for national championship game at Mortgage Matchup Center.
• 12:30 p.m.: National championship game at Mortgage Matchup Center.
