PHOENIX — A pedestrian is dead after being struck by three vehicles on Tuesday night in Phoenix, authorities said.
Officers responded to reports of a collision in the area of 37th Avenue and Thomas Road around 8 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.
First responders with the Phoenix Fire Department pronounced 58-year-old Jeffery Dale Anderson dead at the scene.
Detectives from the Phoenix Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Unit said Anderson was crossing Thomas Road outside a crosswalk when a vehicle struck him.
The driver stayed on the scene; however, after this first collision, two other vehicles struck Anderson — and both fled the scene, police said.
That first driver who stayed on the scene showed no signs of impairment.
Anyone who can help investigators identify the other two drivers is urged to contact police or call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377) or 480-TESTIGO (837-8446) for Spanish speakers.
