Freestyle motocross star sets world record for vertical height at Mesa water park

PHOENIX — Freestyle motocross star Colby Raha set a new world record last week at Mesa’s Revel Surf Park, launching 90 feet into the air off a quarter pipe. This broke the previous record, which professional BMX athlete Jed Mildon set in 2022 when he jumped 24.37 meters (80 feet).

The feat took place during the park’s Record Breakers event on Jan. 31, where multiple action‑sports athletes attempted to surpass world records.

Before making the leap, he accelerated across a 275‑foot run over the park’s wave pool. He then hit the ramp at full throttle, soaring into a dramatic jump that park officials called the “signature highlight” of the event.

The park at 4503 S. Power Road features wave pools, a diving board and a sand area. Guests can take surfing lessons and use provided gear, such as wetsuits and surfboards. Rental spaces are available for parties and private events. Monthly memberships include perks like discounted beach access and surfing sessions.

Raha is a seven-time X Games gold medalist and holder of multiple motorcycle distance and high-air records, will jump on an e-bike and attempt to set two records — the longest distance jump and highest quarterpipe air.

In a Tuesday announcement, the park shared footage of the daredevilry:

“This pool just got jumped,” Raha said after breaking the record.
