Restrictions to start on 75th Avenue at Loop 101 in West Valley

PHOENIX — Motorists driving in the West Valley this weekend will start seeing restrictions on 75th Avenue at the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway, authorities said.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, starting Sunday at 11:30 p.m. a stretch of 75th Avenue between Rose Garden Lane and Arrowhead Clubhouse Drive will be restricted to one through lane in each direction for more than two months.

The traffic authority said the restrictions are part of a project to enhance traffic flow on the busy stretch of road.

The 75th Avenue bridge over Loop 101 will be included in the restrictions as crews will be adding a third left-turn lane for southbound traffic to enter eastbound Loop 101.

Drivers will still be able to access Loop 101 and the Beardsley frontage roads through single left-turn lanes that will remain open on the bridge.

While the restrictions are in place, ADOT advised drivers to expect delays and use 67th or 83rd avenues as alternate routes.

In addition to the restrictions beginning Sunday, the eastbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 75th Avenue closed for two months starting Jan. 4 for reconstruction. The eastbound off-ramp at 35th Avenue also closed for two months on Jan. 26.

The roadwork is part of ADOT’s Loop 101 widening project in the area. The $140 million project is adding new lanes in each direction along Loop 101 between Interstate 17 and 75th Avenue, as well as other improvements.

The project started in September 2024 and is expected to be complete in spring 2027.
