AZ Political Podcast: Jay Feely discusses Trump’s impact on his congressional race

Former NFL kicker Jay Feely discussed President Donald Trump's impact on his congressional campaign in the latest AZ Political Podcast with Jim Sharpe..

Watch: AZ Political Podcast: Jay Feely talks run for Congressional District 1, plans if elected to Congress | 31 mins

NFL alum Jay Feely feels his endorsement from President Donald Trump in Arizona’s 1st Congressional District race carries more weight than the endorsement that Gina Swoboda received from Trump in the same race: the race to replace outgoing Congressman David Schweikert (who’s running for governor).

The former Arizona Cardinals kicker, my guest on the AZ Political Podcast, also explains why he called an audible in December and jumped over to the CD1 race from his original goal: Arizona’s 5th Congressional District seat — where Congressman Andy Biggs is also stepping aside to run for governor.

Interestingly, Feely’s decision to do so involves a Trump endorsement — that of former Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb in the CD5 race — and a directive to Feely to find somewhere to run.

If you’re having trouble keeping track of all of the candidates and the races in which they’re running, just remember Jay Feely is the only former NFL player running for federal office in Arizona in 2026.

Feely also shares what (if anything) he thinks the Trump administration should do differently in regards to immigration enforcement.

And, Feely tells us what he believes Arizona needs from Washington and what we most definitely don’t need.

If he keeps up the same high percentage of field goals made that he had in his NFL career during his political career, Feely has a heck of a shot to be CD1’s next congressman.

Since you've come out of the MAGA closet Mr. Feely, there's no way I'm voting for you to represent me in my congressional district. You should have stuck with football, I had more regard for you back then.
