Driver seriously injured after crashing into parked service truck in Phoenix

A man suffered life-threatening injuries after his vehicle crashed into a parked service truck on Camelback Road in west Phoenix early Monday.

PHOENIX – A man suffered life-threatening injuries after his vehicle crashed into a parked service truck in west Phoenix early Monday, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Camelback Road east of 55th Avenue, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The vehicle that hit the truck was traveling at high speed, police said. The 21-year-old driver was taken to a hospital and went into surgery.

The service truck was stopped and clearly marked with traffic cones and lights when it was hit, police said. It was unoccupied at the time because the operator was cleaning a bus stop across the street.

Camelback Road was closed in both directions between 53rd and 55th avenues while the scene was under investigation.
