PHOENIX — Kiwanis Park in Tempe is set to undergo a series of renovations starting on Monday.
The project is expected to be completed by summer/fall 2026.
The renovations at the park located near Baseline Road and Mill Avenue are being funded via the Parks Capital Improvement Program, an initiative investing more than $60 million into Tempe’s parks over the next five years.
According to the City of Tempe, the following improvements are planned at Kiwanis Park:
- Total renovation and expansion of the existing playground with all new equipment and accessible rubber surfacing
- New large group ramada
- Climbable public art sculpture by artist Bobby Zokaites
- New shade structures
- Additional new trees and landscape
- Irrigation upgrades
- New restroom and concession building
- Improved accessible parking and ramps.
While construction is underway, the playground, three ramadas near the playground, the restroom and concession building will all be closed.
In addition, several sidewalk areas may be closed for a short period of time.
Temporary portable toilets will be available for use during the construction process.
Officials said the park’s north field, dog park and access to the lake will not be affected while construction is underway.
Splash pad access will open in April during its regular schedule.
