West Valley intersection closed after 2nd crash involving suspected hit-and-run driver

PHOENIX – A West Valley intersection was closed Monday morning after an injury collision involving a suspected hit-and-run driver from an earlier crash, authorities said.

The hit-and-run incident occurred around 4 a.m. on Interstate 10, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

An SUV driver who allegedly left the scene was then involved in a crash near 75th Avenue and Van Buren Street, DPS said.

Two men were hospitalized after the surface-street crash, which involved two semi-trucks and caused a vehicle fire, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The suspected hit-and-run driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, and one of the truck drivers was transported as a precaution, police said.

The intersection of 75th Avenue and Van Buren Street was closed during the morning commute for cleanup and investigative purposes.
