Man indicted for Peoria road rage shooting that injured woman

PHOENIX — A West Valley man has been indicted in connection with a road rage incident last month, when a woman was injured after being shot in the leg, prosecutors announced.

The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office said Monday that 20-year-old Rudy Sanchez Jr. was indicted on two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of drive-by shooting, discharge of a firearm at a structure and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

He is currently being held on a $250,000 cash bond. His trial is scheduled to begin in late February 2026.

Details of alleged road rage shooting in Peoria

The road rage shooting happened just after 7 p.m. on Oct. 11 near the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway and Peoria Avenue, according to authorities.

Sanchez drove off after the shooting, but was later tracked down by detectives from the Peoria Police Department and the department’s SWAT team through the use of technological and investigative resources.

He was arrested on Oct. 15 and later admitted to shooting the victim because he believed that she had cut him off in traffic and felt “disrespected,” police said.
