Mesa businesses create buzz for Honey Week with limited-time dishes

PHOENIX — Arizonans who love honey can get their fix of the sweet, syrupy liquid during Visit Mesa’s citywide celebration called Honey Week.

The Mesa marketing organization is partnering with Alvéole, a company that helps urban beehives thrive, for the event.

Honey Week will run from Friday to Oct. 19 and select restaurants will create limited-time dishes using honey harvested from Alvéole’s beehives in Mesa.

What Mesa restaurants are participating in Honey Week?

Here is a list of the restaurants taking part in the honey-themed celebration and their creations:

• AZ Chimney Cakes at 1055 N. Dobson Road #104 will have a sweet bee swirl cone.
• Elysian Fields at 6727 E. McDowell Road will be offering queen bee’s petites — also known as honey cakes.
• Espiritu at 123 W. Main St. will combine sweet and savory with its cured pork belly and caramelized honey tacos.
• Guadalupe on Main at 1526 E. Main St. will have a gluten-free option with its Arizona honey sopapillas.
• Pacific Rim at 1720 W. Southern Ave. will mix the syrupy liquid and seafood for honey fish tacos
• Steadfast Diner at 5149 Inspirian Parkway will be offering a pasture-raised chicken sandwich with burnt honey-chile jam.
• What’s Crackin Café at 6663 E. McDowell Road will have rockin’ honey garlic meatballs. 

Visit Mesa and Alvéole first partnered in 2022 to sponsor two beehives at Freeman Farms.

A portion of the proceeds from each of the Honey Week dishes will go toward Local First Arizona, an organization that has been supporting communities and economic development throughout the Grand Canyon State since 2003.
