Man dead after head-on collision in north Phoenix

A man is dead after a head-on collision in north Phoenix on Monday afternoon, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A man is dead after a head-on collision in north Phoenix on Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Arthur Cody Lomeli, 33, was identified as the victim in the fatal incident, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of a head-on collision near 35th Avenue and Happy Valley Road around 12:29 p.m.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found both drivers involved in the collision.

The Phoenix Fire Department took Lomeli to a nearby hospital where was pronounced dead.

The driver of the other vehicle, a woman, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police said that preliminary information indicates Lomeli was traveling eastbound on Happy Valley when he collided with the other vehicle.

No other information was provided and the investigation is ongoing.
