Authorities released the identity of an armed robbery suspect who died after getting shot by police in Phoenix earlier this week.

PHOENIX – Authorities on Thursday released the identity of an armed robbery suspect who died after getting shot by police in Phoenix earlier this week.
Ote-Tee Brooks Nalwood, 32, was the man killed in Monday’s shooting, the Phoenix Police Department announced.
The incident started around noon, when a call came in about an armed robbery in the area of 35th Avenue and Fillmore Street, near Carl Hayden High School.
Officers arrived at the scene and spoke with the victim, who said the suspect pointed a gun at him and stole his cellphone.
The victim gave officers a description of the suspect’s car, which police located traveling southbound near 35th Avenue and Washington Street before pulling into a vacant field and stopping.
What led up to man getting shot by police in Phoenix?
The officers requested additional units to block the vehicle in. At that point, Nalwood allegedly pointed a gun at police, prompting at least one officer to shoot.
Nalwood tried to drive away after the initial gunfire, but his car got stuck.
“The suspect pointed the handgun at the officers again, and a second officer-involved shooting occurred,” Sgt. Lorraine Fernandez said in a media advisory.
After the second shooting, the police department’s special assignment units and a K9 removed Nalwood from the vehicle.
He was in critical condition when the Phoenix Fire Department took him to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
No officers or community members were injured in the incident.
The Department of Public Safety’s Major Incident Division will be investigating the shooting.

Well Ken - If the subject in question (speaking of "idiots") did NOT perform an armed robbery and then proceed to point a gun at police officers, this whole thing could have been completely avoided..
The Police have every right to defend themselves with deadly force when faced with similar deadly force.
