Powerball drawing yields prizes of $50,000-$100,000 for 3 Arizona players

PHOENIX – Three Arizona lottery players, including two who bought their tickets just a few miles apart, won at least $50,000 in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing.

The lucky tickets all matched four of the five white numbers – 31, 59, 62, 65 and 68 – plus the red Powerball of 5.

One of the entries came from a north Phoenix gas station, and the other two were sold in Littlefield, a small rural community in the northwest corner of the state.

The Phoenix ticket was purchased at the Fast Market on the northeast corner of Cave Creek and Beardsley roads.

The Littlefield entries were from a pair of travel centers along Interstate 15: Desert Springs Travel Center at 4031 Fleet St. and the nearby TA Express at 3225 E. Rincon Road.

How 1 Arizona player doubled Powerball prize to $100,000

The TA Express player included the Power Play option, which costs an extra dollar, to double the payout to $100,000.

The Power Play multiplier amount is randomly selected before each drawing and increases prizes other than the jackpot by two, three, four, five or 10 times.

Powerball is a multistate game of chance with drawings every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday night. Tickets cost $2 and can be purchased at over 3,000 retailers around Arizona.

After the jackpot went unclaimed on Wednesday, the top prize for Saturday’s drawing will be an estimated $700 million.
