A woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Phoenix on Sunday, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Phoenix on Sunday, authorities said.
Tracey Ann Silva, 44, was the pedestrian killed in the collision, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Details on woman dead after being hit crossing street in Phoenix
Officers responded to the area of 26th Drive and Glendale Avenue for reports of a collision involving a pedestrian around 10:53 p.m.
When police arrived, they found Silva unresponsive and in critical condition.
The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on scene and pronounced Silva dead.
The driver of the car involved in the collision, an adult male, stayed at the scene.
Based on preliminary information, detectives believe that Silva was crossing the street, mid-block and outside of a crosswalk, when she was hit.
The driver was evaluated and showed no signs of impairment.
Speed is not believed to be a factor.
No other information was provided.

Gone are the days when kids are taught to look right, left, and right again before crossing the street, whether you have the right of way or not. Nowadays, people cross the street regardless. Yeah, you could sue the driver, but the money’s no good if you’re dead.

Silva most likely died within sight of an established crosswalk
