Driver arrested after fleeing scene of collision with Phoenix officer in unmarked vehicle

A driver was arrested after fleeing the scene of a collision with a police officer in an unmarked vehicle in Phoenix.

PHOENIX – A driver was arrested Friday after fleeing the scene of a collision with a police officer in an unmarked vehicle in Phoenix, authorities said.

The officer was on duty just after 11:30 a.m. when the collision occurred near 20th Street and Southern Avenue, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The man driving the other vehicle allegedly fled the scene on foot.

Police set up a perimeter of the area and were able to locate and arrest the man, whose name was not released.

Nobody was injured in the collision.

“Additional information related to this incident remains part of the ongoing investigation,” Sgt. Rob Scherer said in a media advisory.

It was the second crash involving a Phoenix Police officer in two days.

A driver who allegedly ran a red light died after colliding with a police SUV on Thursday night.
