4 people arrested after fight involving a gun at West Valley elementary school

PHOENIX – Four teens, including three juveniles, were arrested Wednesday after a fight involving a gun at a West Valley elementary school.

The incident occurred during dismissal at Freedom Elementary School near Verrado Way and Yuma Road, according to the Buckeye Police Department.

Officers responded to the scene around 4 p.m. and detained two girls ages 15 and 17, a 17-year-old boy and an adult male.

What did police say about fight involving a gun?

The suspects do not attend the school but were there to pick relatives.

The adult, 19-year-old Iriel Rivera, allegedly lifted his shirt to show a handgun in his waistband when the fight broke out, police said.

Rivera was booked into jail on weapons charges. The juveniles face charges of disorderly conduct and disrupting an educational institution.

No injuries were reported.
