Motorcyclist dead after colliding into fence in southwest Phoenix

PHOENIX — A man died on Friday night in southwest Phoenix after crashing his motorcycle into a metal fence, authorities said.

Phoenix police and fire personnel arrived to the area of 50th Avenue and Southern Avenue around 5:45 p.m. and discovered “an unresponsive rider” lying on the ground. The Phoenix Fire Department determined the man, who was identified as 38-year-old Julio Suarez, had died from his injuries.

Early investigation revealed Suarez had lost control of his motorcycle while accelerating past 51st Avenue and Southern Avenue. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Detectives are actively trying to determine the factors that led to the motorcycle crash.
