Arizona DPS troopers find body on Loop 101 Agua Fria at Peoria Avenue

PHOENIX – A woman was killed in an apparent hit-and-run at a West Valley freeway exit early Monday, authorities said.

Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers found the 33-year-old Peoria woman’s body near the southbound Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway off-ramp at Peoria Avenue.

Troopers said in an email they were called to the ramp in Peoria about a vehicle with hazards lights on blocking a lane.

The driver’s side door of the gold Mitsubishi Gallant was open when officers arrived, DPS said.

Troopers found a body on the dirt shoulder of the road, about 50 feet from the vehicle.

A department spokesman said investigators were looking for a 2010-2014 Dodge Challenger that left the scene. The car would have damage to its grill.

Vehicular Crimes Unit staff was working the scene, DPS said.
