Scottsdale Community College offers new cannabis business certificate program

PHOENIX — Scottsdale Community College is accepting enrollment for a new cannabis business certificate program, the school announced Wednesday.

“Cannabis sales are expected to top $33 billion dollars in 2022,” Dr. Bobra Crockett, leader of the nine-credit program, said in a press release.

“We are pleased to provide workforce training and education to those interested in this industry.”

Arizona residents can work toward a Cannabis Business Fundamentals certificate by completing four classes: introduction to cannabis, social equity and current events, supply chain management in the cannabis industry, and legal and regulatory environment.

A passing grade in the three-credit intro course is a prerequisite for enrollment in the three-credit legal/regulatory class and the two-credit supply chain class.

The courses will be available for the first time in eight-week online sessions this fall. The intro and the one-credit social equity classes run from Aug. 22 to Oct. 14, followed by legal/regulatory and supply chain classes from Oct. 24 to Dec. 16.

The program isn’t eligible for Title IV federal financial aid.
