Roger Waters of Pink Floyd adds Valley show to This Is Not A Drill tour

PHOENIX – In what might be his final time on the road, Roger Waters is bringing his legendary live act to the Valley this fall.

Tickets to the former Pink Floyd leader’s Oct. 3 gig at Gila River Arena in Glendale go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.

Metro Phoenix wasn’t on the itinerary for Waters’ This Is Not A Drill tour of North America when it was originally set for 2020 or after it had to be rescheduled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

But on Thursday he added Glendale and two other stops to his run through more than 30 cities in the U.S., Canada and Mexico from July to October. The 78-year-old musician is referring, perhaps jokingly, to the trek as his “first farewell tour.”

Waters’ live shows are known for their extravagant sets and effects, including iconic performances of “The Wall” both with Pink Floyd and as a solo artist.

This time around, he’ll perform in the round in what he’s calling a “new rock and roll/cinematic extravaganza,” blasting through Pink Floyd classics as well as new material.

Waters hasn’t played in Arizona since his Us + Them tour came through Gila River Arena in June 2017.
