Watch: Services for former Arizona Attorney General Grant Woods

The memorial service was set to begin at 10 a.m. at the Orpheum Theatre at Second Avenue and Adams Street. The service is open to the public, with limited seating, and being livestreamed.

Longtime family friend Cindy McCain and former NBA star Charles Barkley are on the list of guests delivering eulogies.

Phoenix Pastor Warren Stewart of the First Institutional Baptist Church, who worked alongside Woods to help establish a paid Martin Luther King holiday in the the state in 1992, is officiating.

Woods, 67, died Oct. 23.

The family asks that instead of flowers, send donations in Woods’ honor to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley.

Woods, who grew up in Mesa, founded that city’s branch of the after-school organization. The East Valley city eventually renamed the facility in his honor in 1994.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Galan Woods, and children Austin, Cole, Dylan, Lauren and Ava.
