17-year-old girl identified as person killed in south Phoenix alley shooting

Police have identified 17-year-old Itzel Espinoza as the person who was found dead of a gunshot wound in a car Saturday morning in south Phoenix, authorities said.

PHOENIX — Police have identified 17-year-old Itzel Espinoza as the person who was found dead of a gunshot wound in a car Saturday morning in south Phoenix, authorities said.

Police responded to a call referencing a shooting around 5:30 a.m. near 35th and Southern avenues and found Espinoza seated inside a car in an alley with an apparent wound.

Phoenix Fire personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.
