ASU Gammage to present drive-thru sensory exhibit at parking garage

PHOENIX — ASU Gammage will present a one-of-a-kind, drive-thru sensory experience called designspace next month at a campus parking garage in Tempe.

The garage at Sixth Street and Packard Drive will be transformed into a multilevel, immersive museum that will celebrate art, design and production, according to a press release.

Exhibits feature designs from renowned structural artists HYBYCOZO, industry professionals and ASU students enrolled in the Herberger Institute for Design and Art.

The event will run Thursday-Sundays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on April 9-25.

Tickets for designspace can be purchased online and costs $40 per vehicle, with a promise to take riders on a journey from earth to outer space during the one-mile-long museum.

Students will also help design, install, program and operate designspace, according to the release, providing a rare opportunity to get hands-on experience working with light installation, graphic design and architecture professionals.

Vehicles can be no taller than eight feet to enter the Packard Drive structure and people are asked to stay in the car for the entire experience.

There will be no restrooms available for public use, according to the website.
