Renovated century-old former mining hotel in Jerome to be auctioned

PHOENIX – A century-old former mining hotel in Jerome that failed to sell for $6 million after being converted to a home two years ago is hitting the auction block.

Bidding for The Little Daisy will begin June 26 through Concierge Auctions, and a preview event will be held Saturday.

There is no set reserve, but opening bids are expected to be in the $2 million-$4 million range. Bidders must make a $100,000 deposit.

The scenic property overlooking the Sedona area’s red rocks went on the market in 2018 after being renovated.

The eight-bedroom, seven-bathroom estate was built on 3.45 acres in 1919. Walter and Lisa Acker bought it in 1995 for $190,000.

The home features 12,000 square feet of indoor space, a 9,000-square-foot rooftop garden and a 2,600-square-foot garage.

More features include an ample wine cellar, a telephone booth, bar and theater/game room. The home has 33 rooms with a spacious living and dining room.

James S. Douglas, who purchased and developed the Little Daisy Mine company in 1912, built the hotel to house miners in 1919. Architects Royal Lescher and Leslie J. Mahoney designed the original hotel.
