Phoenix residents can now speak remotely at City Council meetings

PHOENIX – The city of Phoenix is making it easier for citizens to participate in City Council meetings that have restricted access during the coronavirus pandemic.

The city last week announced a new eComment system that will let residents speak remotely or post comments online during meetings.

Phoenicians can sign up to speak or comment up to an hour before a meeting’s start time by clicking the comment icon on the City Council meetings web page.

When the meeting starts, those who have signed up to speak can get access through a link posted on top of the agenda.

The next scheduled meetings are a policy session set for 1 p.m. Tuesday and a Public Safety and Justice Subcommittee meeting at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The next formal meeting will be held May 20.

As always, City Council meetings are streamed live on the city government’s website and YouTube page and broadcast on the Phoenix Channel 11 cable station.
