Phoenix police, firefighters join latest viral video trend

PHOENIX — Amid the anxiety and hardships of the coronavirus outbreak, the city of Phoenix has given residents a reason to smile.

TikTok — a viral video sharing app — has found its latest trend that’s captivating many users.

Even the Phoenix police and Phoenix fire departments are getting on board.

The trend is called “flip the switch.” But how does it work?

The viral video challenge is set to Drake’s 2018 track “Nonstop” and involves two people standing in front of a mirror. One person stands closest to the mirror holding still while recording the video on their phone.

Meanwhile, in the background, the other person dances to the music until Drake sings the opening lyrics: “Look, I just flipped a switch (Flipped, flipped).”

That cue prompts the room’s light switch to be turned off and on, only to reveal that the two people in the video swapped outfits and positions during the transition.

In the city of Phoenix’s version, you can see the male firefighter and female police officer swapping uniforms and their dance moves.

Posted on both Phoenix Police and Phoenix Fire’s social media, they wrote: “We #FlipTheSwitch for public safety in @CityofPhoenixAZ!”
