Red-light runner on motorcycle hit by car, killed in Phoenix

A motorcycle driver ran a red light in a Phoenix intersection and was killed when he was hit by a car Thursday, police said.

PHOENIX – A motorcycle driver ran a red light in a Phoenix intersection and was killed when he was hit by a car Thursday, police said.

Steven Charles Denton, 68, went through the light at 29th Avenue and Greenway Road around 11:30 a.m. and was struck by a Toyota sedan driven by a 25-year-old woman.

She and a 19-year-old passenger were unharmed and they remained at the scene to talk to officers.

Denton, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at a hospital.
