PHOENIX — Partygoers in the Valley who plan to raise a glass to the new year will have plenty of options to get home safe after the clock strikes midnight.

Valley Metro will offer free light rail, bus and paratransit service starting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

The light rail will run every 24 minutes through the end of service, which varies at each station but is generally around 2:30-4:20 a.m.

For those not partying near a light rail or bus stop, Lyft is offering a promo code for discounted rides through Jan. 2.

First-time users in Arizona can get $5 off four rides using “SAFEARIZONA,” while existing customers can use “SAFEARIZONA19” to get 10% off two rides, up to $1 off each.

First-time users in Maricopa County can use “JOY” to get $5 off four rides, and existing customers can use “JOY19” to get 20% off two rides, up to $2 off each.

For those moving about in the Arcadia neighborhood in Phoenix, Paradise Valley or south Scottsdale, local real estate company The Joffe Group will reimburse the cost of getting home safely.

Up to 50 people 21 years or older can receive up to $20 for cab, Uber or Lyft rides taken between 5 p.m. on Tuesday and 8 a.m. Jan. 1.

Riders must send a copy of a driver’s license, a receipt and an email associated with a PayPal account to 4167 N. Marshall Way in Scottsdale.

One option missing from the Phoenix area this year, however, is the AAA Tipsy Tow program.

Spokesman Aldo Vasquez told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Monday the company discontinued the service because of the popularity of ride-hailing companies.
