This is a re-run from September 10, 2007.
Bank robbery is serious business. But sometimes guys like this one in his groovy get-up are just asking to be ridiculed.
“The only way to say this is just to be upfront. If you don’t take a look at this picture, you have no idea what you’re missing out on,” says Phoenix Police Sergeant Paul Penzone.
“The suspect in this case has a very large afro and he’s wearing some sunglasses that are similar to a pair of white Oakleys and he’s got a trench coat on.”
“And picture tells a thousand words and if you know him you’ve probably got a thousand more but he’s nothing less than a dangerous bank robber.
Here’s how it went down.
“It was Tuesday, August 7th of 2007 about 10:30 in the morning when he walked into Chase Bank on 16th Street and Buckeye Road. He presented a demand note and after getting the cash he took off.”
He may have gotten into a black taxi. “There wasn’t a weapon seen, but there was one mentioned in the note. So, we have to go on the assumption that he’s armed and dangerous.”
He’s believed to be Hispanic, somewhere in his early to mid 40s. He’s about 5-foot-9, 195 pounds with a sandy afro-style wig, tan pants and black boots. His trench coat was tan camoflauge.
“There’s no excuse in the world to not catch somebody like this,” says Penzone.
