PHOENIX – Two men have been indicted by a grand jury for allegedly running an illegal poker room out of a north Phoenix sports bar, authorities said Wednesday.
John Anthony Schnaubelt, 53, and David Lee Dilettoso, 62, each face three felony counts related to alleged illegal activity from around June 2018 to January 2019 at Toso’s Sports Bar and Grill, according to an Arizona Attorney General’s Office press release.
Schnaubelt, owner of Real Poker LLC, is accused of managing the poker operation. He was charged with conspiracy, illegal conduct of an enterprise and promotion of gambling.
Dilettoso is the owner of Daddy’s DDTK Inc., the company that owns the bar on Union Hills Drive just east of Interstate 17, according to the release. He faces the same felony charges as Schnaubelt plus seven misdemeanor liquor license violations.
The liquor license violations stem from Dilettoso allegedly permitting unlawful gambling to take place at the bar on multiple occasions, according to the Aug. 19 indictment.
Both men are scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 17. They also are the subjects of ongoing forfeiture and licensure cases, the release said.
The criminal investigation was a joint effort of the Arizona Attorney General’s Office and Department of Gaming.
