Expect more rain across the Phoenix area over the next few days

PHOENIX — Something you don’t usually see in the Arizona desert — consecutive days of rain.

Light rain fell across the Phoenix area on Monday and more is expected for Tuesday — over a 50 percent chance of showers — according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters predict a tenth to a quarter-inch of rain by Tuesday night and a 20 percent chance of showers going into Wednesday morning.

ABC15 meteorologist Iris Hermosillo told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Monday that there’s a slight chance for showers during the day Tuesday before things pick up in the evening.

“After 5 p.m., so for the Tuesday evening commute, we start to see a better chance for widespread rains here in the Valley,” she said.

Hermosillo said the storm could bring winds in the 25 mph range and cooler temperatures.

“By Wednesday and Thursday our highs will only reach the mid to upper 50s,” she said. “And the mornings are going to get colder, too.

“By the end of the week, lows are going to be dropping into the 30s.”
