PHOENIX – A new record was set for the most expensive home sold in Arizona after a Scottsdale mansion sold for $17.5 million.

The home’s steep price beat out two Paradise Valley homes that previously held the record at $12.75 million in January of 2017 and $15 million in December.

The home is located in north Scottsdale in the DC Ranch community near Thompson Peak Parkway and Legacy Boulevard.

It sits on the sixth hole of the Silverleaf Golf Course and is adjacent to McDowell Mountain, giving residents spectacular views of the mountains and city as well as direct access to hiking trails.

The 18,000-square-foot home was first put on the market in 2011 with an asking price of $24.5 million. The price was reduced to $19.95 million in 2016, and to $17.995 million last summer.

According to the online listing on Realtor.com, the home boasts six bedrooms and 14 bathrooms, but that only scratches the surface of the total amenities the home offers.

The mansion has five indoor and outdoor kitchens with multiple spas, an estate pool and entertainment space throughout the yard.

Inside, the two-story home offers two elevators, a virtual reality/golf simulator room, an in-home fitness center with a steam room, a basketball and volleyball court equipped with a rock-climbing wall, and a home theater.

The home sits on four acres of land and includes eight garages and a detached guest house with a private driveway.

The entire home is fitted with a state of the art security and home automation system.

Before it was purchased on Feb. 27, the home was owned by Phil Knight, the former chief operating officer and co-founder of the Phoenix-based trucking company Knight Transportation.
