Deputies locate parents hours after child found wandering street near Phoenix

PHOENIX — Deputies located the parents of a little girl on Monday a few hours after she was found wandering a street southeast of Phoenix.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said the girl, who is believed to be 2 or 3 years old, was found by deputies responding to a welfare check at an intersection near Gary Road and the Hunt Highway in the San Tan Valley area.

The sheriff’s office said the girl was being watched by a teenage sibling when she left the house. The girl’s mother was at work and the father was on his way home, but there was a miscommunication about who was watching her.

No charges are expected to be filed.
