PHOENIX — A car fire closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 17 near downtown Phoenix for a short time Thursday, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.
All northbound traffic was being forced off at Jefferson Street for a short time. The two left lanes were reopened as of 4:30 p.m.
The southbound lanes remained open.
There was no timetable to reopen the roadway. Drivers were encouraged to use other routes, such as Interstate 10 westbound.
No injuries were reported.
