PHOENIX – The highly anticipated Taco Bell Cantina – where you could soon be able to wash down your Mexican fast food with a cold beer – is open for business in downtown Phoenix.

According to a company spokesperson, Arizona’s first Taco Bell Cantina opened Dec. 23 in the Collier Center complex at Second and Washington streets.

The restaurant in the heart of downtown is close to busy attractions such as Chase Field, Talking Stick Arena and the Phoenix Convention Center.

Taco Bell Cantina is a little more upscale than your typical Taco Bell, featuring an urban restaurant design, custom menu with shareable appetizers and alcoholic beverages.

The Phoenix City Council approved the restaurant’s liquor license at its Dec. 12 meeting.

According to ABC15, the Phoenix location is not yet able to serve alcohol, but it does have all of the joint’s classic eats, including crunchy tacos and the Crunchwrap Supreme.

Taco Bell first introduced the cantina concept in Chicago in 2015 and has since expanded it to over 15 locations nationwide.

A cantina in Fayetteville, Arkansas, that opened in 2017 closed for good Monday.
