PHOENIX — The Arizona Secretary of State’s office plans hold a series of town hall meetings to educate the public about the various propositions that will be on the November ballot.
There will be a total of nine town hall meetings held statewide. The first one here in the Valley will be on Oct. 17 at the Mesa Public Library.
“Information about each ballot measure will be presented at these open public meetings,” Arizona Secretary of State Michele Reagan said in a statement.
“When voters are educated about the issues they feel more comfortable about their voting choices when casting their ballots,” she added. “I hope the voters take advantage of these Town Halls to learn more about the ballot measures.”
The meetings are free and open to the public.
Matt Roberts, a spokesman for Reagan’s office, said proponents and opponents representing each of the propositions will be invited to attend the town hall meetings and give the public their view.
“It gives voters a really great opportunity to understand from both sides what the ballot measure would do and, of course, they’re able to ask questions,” Roberts said.
There will be five propositions on the November ballot covering a number of issues, ranging from clean energy to education vouchers.
A list of town halls and the locations where they will be held is available online.
