PHOENIX – If you are looking to add some fun and excitement into your life, the Phoenix metropolitan area is the right place for you.
According to a new study by Business Insider, the area consisting of Phoenix, Mesa and Scottsdale was named the most exciting in Arizona, boasting a population of over 4.5 million between the three.
Business Insider used the number of establishments that they believe would make a city more “exciting,” including breweries, museums and other attractions.
The study identified each state’s metropolitan areas, using the Census Bureau’s 2015 County Business Patterns to see which had the highest count of businesses that would make each city more interesting.
Using the data, Business Insider took into account the number of businesses that fell under the arts, entertainment and recreation category as well as the accommodation and food services category.
The Phoenix metropolitan area has 1,196 arts, entertainment and recreation businesses, along with 7,688 accommodation and food service businesses.
The study also analyzed each state for the most boring cities.
With only 37 arts, entertainment and recreational businesses, and 259 accommodation and food service businesses, the study combined the metropolitan areas of Sierra Vista and Douglas, naming the two cities the most boring in the state.
The two southern Arizona cities are located near main border crossings from the U.S. into Mexico.
Sierra Vista is about 45 miles northeast of the Naco Port of Entry, while Douglas is home to the Douglas Port of Entry.
