PHOENIX — If you are thinking of renting an apartment or a home, one Phoenix-area city might be the best place for you.
Scottsdale was ranked among the best cities in the nation for renters, according to a survey from Apartment List.
On a grading scale of A+ to F-, Scottsdale was given an overall rating of A+ and an A+ safety and crime rating. The city’s lowest ranking was for public transit, which it was given a D.
Another Arizona city that ranked exceptionally high was Chandler, which was also given an overall rating of A+. The town’s best score was for school quality — an A- — while its worst was in social life — a C.
On the other end of the scale was Glendale, which ranked as the worst city in the state for renter satisfaction. It received an overall score of F, in part due to its low safety and crime rating. However, it was given a C for weather.
Mesa, Tucson and Phoenix fell in the middle of the pack.
Overall, Arizona received a B ranking for renters. Its lowest scores came from school quality and commute time, while its best scores came from weather, pet friendliness and affordability.
The results came from 45,000 survey responses. Participants gave their city an overall score and ranked it on 11 factors, including affordability, job opportunities and safety.
