Arizona’s first all-vegan grocery store to open soon in Glendale

PHOENIX — All-vegan supermarket Veggie Rebellion will expand after securing a 25-month lease on a 1,400-square-foot property in Glendale.

The lease was secured by commercial real estate company Bryant Commercial Real Estate and, according to leasing agent Vinny Summo, the move should not come as a surprise as more of the nation turned vegan in 2017.

“The vegan food industry grew by $3.1 billion in one year,” Summo said.

Located near Glendale and 57th Avenues, Veggie Rebellion will be the first all-vegan grocery store in Arizona offering only plant-based products with no animal ingredients.

Grocery shopping for vegans can be difficult and forced shoppers to scour through labels to see if what they are buying had any hidden animal based items in the product, or if the product was made with any animal-based ingredients.

All-vegan grocery stores create an environment safe for vegans to shop without having to worry about whether a product is truly plant based or not.

The store has paired with Minnesota-based Herbivorous Butcher and will have a variety of its meat-free meat products available at the grocery store. Herbivorous Butcher produces vegan plant-based meat alternatives.

According to the Veggie Rebellion website, it also planned to sell local products.

The store was targeting a date in late January for its grand opening.
