Body found floating in lake near Laveen, police investigating

PHOENIX — A body was found floating in a lake near Laveen on Sunday morning, authorities said.

At 8 a.m., Phoenix fire officials responded to reports of a body in a lake near the area of 35th Avenue and Baseline Road, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Emergency personnel arrived on-scene and found a body floating right in the center of the lake at Cesar Chavez Park.

The Phoenix Police Department took over the investigation and processed the scene.

The body of the victim, later identified as an adult male, was given to the medical examiner who will investigate the cause of death.

No apparent signs of foul play were reported.
