PHOENIX — A Phoenix-area restaurant had an unexpected customer early Tuesday morning after a woman accidentally drove a minivan through the eatery’s window.
Tempe Police Lt. Scott Smith said the driver smashed through the window of the Tampopo Japanese Ramen Restaurant near Southern Avenue and McClintock Road.
“The driver — accidentally and mistakenly — thought that her foot was on the brake, when, in fact, she pressed down on the accelerator,” he said. “That caused the vehicle to hop the curb and drive in a straight line into the glass facade.”
No one was inside the restaurant when the accident happened and no one was injured.
Smith said impairment is not believed to be a factor.
KTAR’s Lauren Grifo contributed to this report.
