The Phoenix Police Department announced funeral services for officer David Glasser will be at 10 a.m. Thursday.

The services will take place at Christ Church of the Valley, 7007 W. Happy Valley Rd. in Peoria. Following the service, there will be a procession to Phoenix Memorial Park and Cemetery at 200 W. Beardsley Rd. in Phoenix.

Glasser died Thursday at St. Joseph’s Hospital after being shot by a robbery suspect on Wednesday. He was responding to an emergency call near 51st Avenue and Baseline Road when he was shot by the suspect who was sitting in a vehicle in front of a home.

The suspect, identified Thursday as Isreal Santos-Banos was allegedly stealing guns from his father and was killed by police.

Glasser is the 38th Phoenix Police officer killed in the line of duty and the first since Det. John Hobbs was shot and killed on March 3, 2014.

I am very sad for this man's family. It is pathetic that people do not value life more. This man was trying to make a difference. The scum that killed him, whom I am glad is dead, was just a selfish and disgusting human being.
