PHOENIX – Maricopa County will begin the process to update the county’s vital planning document, the county announced last week.
The Framework 2040 – Comprehensive Plan is a document that will aid the county in making key decisions regarding the growth and development of the county through the year 2040.
The plan will cover a wide array of topics including land use, transportation, parks, water, energy, the economy, the environment and development.
“The Comprehensive Plan is our blueprint for the future,” Board of Supervisors Chairman Jack Sellers said in a press release. “It guides our decisions on land use, transportation, housing, open space, and more. A policy decision this important deserves full participation from all corners of our County. We look forward to a comprehensive citizen-involved process.”
Maricopa County has been using its current comprehensive planning document since 2016. The county said new growth patterns, industry changes and Arizona law have all made it necessary to update the document.
Upcoming public input sessions will be hosted for Maricopa County residents to make their voices heard and help shape the plan.
